Van J. Walther, S.E., the Chief Insatiable Learner and founder of Walther Learning and Innovation, LLC with a life-long passion for learning, spent over twenty five years studying how people learn and how we can learn faster and more effectively. He then applied that study to over twenty years of teaching experience in both the private and public sectors.
Van brings an extensive background in training, consulting, marketing, and public speaking. He conducted training courses at Hewlett-Packard, NYNEX, IBM, The City of Loveland, Colorado, Thompson R2-J Schools, Primerica, World Financial Group, and other organizations. His entertaining speaking style and ability to simplify complex subjects make him a favorite speaker for young and old alike.
Before founding Walther Learning and Innovation, Van worked for Hewlett-Packard Company in various positions including Innovation Program Manager, Training Coordinator, Learning Products Engineer, Product Marketing, International Support, and Research & Development. At HP he created and presented a variety of training classes to international audiences. These classes spanned a wide range of topics, from innovation tools, computer hardware, software and interface standards to interpersonal communication and learning styles. As part of this work, Van researched the training needs of the technical sales force, developed training to meet those needs, and presented it in the United States and Europe. This one training course resulted in a 25% increase in sales through this channel and enhanced support of HP computer products, worldwide.
Van J. Walther has a B.S. (magna cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah and has done graduate work in engineering and computer science at Stanford University. He also holds a Masters of Education degree at Western Governors University specializing in Management and Innovation. In addition, Van pursues an extensive self education program. His lifelong passion for learning keeps him constantly searching for better training techniques.
